Today I’m including both versions in case you can enjoy the original choice of words from the Spanish Philosopher and my translation as I attempt to replicate his chosen words. This was one of those many moments when I had no control over their chosen words. However, I still received the original intent embedded in those words.
In his eagerness to preserve himself in this reality that he understands exists, mankind does the impossible to survive— meaning that if spirituality makes him perish, he will rather let go of spirituality to survive for fear of becoming null, for wanting to be something. For fear of loneliness, he would always want to be in company. For fear of doing nothing, following his desire to always be busy, satisfying his personal needs, and his creative surroundings, while engulfing in himself, he is willing to ignore everything that is handed to him. —Transcript
El hombre, en su afán de preservase a si mismo en esta realidad cual el entiende que existe, hace todo lo imposible por sobrevivir— significando que si la espiritualidad hace que él sucumba, preferirá soltar la espiritualidad y sobrevivir por el temor a ser nada, queriendo ser algo.
